The Nebraska Medical Center broke new ground in 1989 when it started a Pancreas Transplant Program - a time when this procedure was just beginning to gain acceptance. Since then, The Nebraska Medical Center has become the fifth center in the world to perform more than 200 pancreas transplants. The program has received Medicare designation and consistently ranks within the top five centers performing this transplant procedure for adults. Our physicians are pioneers in islet cell transplantation research and clinical trails.

Specially-trained transplant nurse coordinators, social workers and patient financial counselors assist patients in every step before and after transplantation.
