Become a Volunteer

Anyone who wishes to become a volunteer must preregister for a volunteer orientation class. This session is required for all new volunteers. The volunteer application and orientation process can take 4-6 weeks to complete. Please call Volunteer Services at (402) 559-4197 to register for an orientation class.

A packet of information will be sent in the mail one week prior to the volunteer orientation class. Please bring this completed paperwork to the session.

During the volunteer orientation class, the following tasks are addressed

• Expectations of all volunteers at The Nebraska Medical Center
• Hospital policies
• Hospital procedures
• Interview for placement
• Assignment to a schedule in a service area
• Training in service area
• Health, security and safety issues
• Steps to complete screenings, checks, id badges and placement
